There's been a lot of talk about the marketplace lately. The issues with how it stands now:
- Crippling bug involving (for example) loading the market at 4:59PM then purchasing an item at 5:01PM will result in a purchase of the new item that was loaded hourly.
- Not enough variety of items.
- Heavily exploitable by purchasing 100 cheap quest items (for example).
New idea:
7 completely random items (from the whole database) will be generated. Those items will stay until they are purchased, in which case, a new random item will replace it. This solution will remove all of the issues.
-
That sounds like an excellent idea. I'm all for it.
(I totally just bought 3 Spread Gun Falcons there haha)
edit: I'm not sure it's intentional or not, but the slot machine loads the items currently in the marketplace. Seems a little off if it's random generation.
-
I think that's a fantastic idea! Go right ahead with it.

This is next on my list to do, tonight I made significant changes on all instances of inventory, you will probably notice the speed improvements more than anything.
Inventory functionality now works on all pages that show your inventory (meaning the sorting/page ability). A long with this change comes to speed improvements I have also made on the Inventory page in specific, correct item #'s, how many you have in the set, and how many you have of the item itself.

Marketplace is in desperate need of new items PL0X :'(
-
Marketplace changes are now in place, try it out!
-
So expensive! D:
-
I have increased the buy/sell prices of the 4/5 rarities to better reflect their new actual rareness. I might increase some rewards on certain things to balance further.
-
Fixed a recent bug where you could purchase stuff for cheaper than it was selling for. I think a good idea for the shop would be to limit to amount of rarity 4's and 5's that show up.
-
Was the Marketplace updated today?
-
Hehe, well it was reverted to back how it was supposed to be. Over time, some of the items were removed for some reason. Still looking to fix it :)
-
Gotcha!
-
Still see the whole marketplace is full of R4's n 5's and when its not its like R1's that rnt collectable for the item collector... </3
-
Drath i think the marketplace should be refreshed every so often like 2xs a week cuz no1 wants to buy those R5's n R4's if we already have them since they pop up all the time
-
I'm planning on some changes for the Marketplace. I don't want them refreshed because then people will just wait to get new things. I wanted people to buy to get new things - part of an economy thing. BUT, what I will do is make rarity 5's very very rare, and rarity 4's extremely rare to show up. Right now, is basically like a 20% chance for each. They will be more like 1% soon. I'll let you know when I make the change.
-
Changed :)
-
Right on. Lokk forward to the changes
-
I say the marketplace needs to change once a week or something because everything is still the same whenever i look at it and no one wants to buy it
-
I agree, marketplace items should change at least daily.
-
Maybe not that often.
-
If you are trying to build a collection it is very challenging, if the market place changed more often one could get a few items they were short on more often.
-
Now that you mention that, I think that cycling the marketplace so often would actually unbalance the site a lot.
-
Finally, somebody that sees my point :'( haha ;D
-
recycle the marketplace 2x a month or once a month?
-
I think I have an idea. I am going to add a button to "Recall Stock" which will allow players to randomly re-stock the mall. This will come with a price tag of course to balance it out. Level 4 and 5's will still be as rare.
-
Nice
-
I like that idea too.
-
Drath, what do you think of having the odd magical item appear in the marketplace?
-
Also I just noticed the prices vary at different times of the day? Has this always been like this?

It sure has :)
-
I'm liking the sounds of all these recent/future tweaks. Keep it up drath!
-
Recalling the stock functionality has been added.
-
Cool, I like it. ;D
-
When you recall the stock, you should get the items recalled.. Good idea?
-

Not for $5000 :P
-
How about a "buy all" option?
-
could you add a random item button for 5000 gold
-
^ I actually like that idea.
-
could you delete the recall button and add a buy random item button because recalling the stock does not give you the items you even want but sometimes when the random item button is up you can click the button and it gives you a item my click on the random item button for 5000 gold pieces
-
+ 1 player only recalled the stock
-
that idea is great
-
101jokes its a great idea
-
Recalling the stock is pretty much not a good idea 1 person agreed with my idea with buying a random item button I pretty much dislike the idea recalling the stock because its boring and not fun but the random item button will only cost 2500 gold 2500 less then recalling the stock.
-
I have added the "Surprise Bag" idea to the to-do list.
-
Whats the surprise bag?
-
That's the name I am giving the idea suggested. Basically you buy a surprise bag from the marketplace, and inside is a random item.
-
How much will it cost?
-
What about something similar for the seeker of the rare, like a skip button that costs you the value of the current item?
-
Or it costs whatever the rarity is x1000 like r5 would be 5000 gold to skip
-
Could you trade in the marketplace Example: When you want to sell an item you can sell the item or trade with a player and when you sell a 1-up or any different item to the player the player has to choose a item for the player the player gets the item whatever the player gives to the player and the player that wanted to trade will get that item from the other player.
-
Recalling the stock is not a really good idea only Renegade recalls the stock a lot :P.
